From the artist:

"The album “Somnolent,” which for me can mean “inducing sleep,” is intended to be played in toto as a listener is falling asleep. All 3 parts serve a purpose during this transition.

The first part, the 18-minute title piece, softly cascades major triads descending in 4ths amid a steady background of night insects, inducing consonance and quietude.

“Nodding Atoll,” the second piece, is structured throughout its 47 minutes as a slowly evolving series of overlapping consonant chords, beckoning the sleeper down evocative trails of her or his own unconscious devising.

In the final 32-minute piece “Dream Transformer,” harmony is only suggested. Bare individual notes rise and fall, laid over a constant textured-bass drone. The dreamer, now deeply asleep, unconsciously fills in the myriad emotional blanks that the notes suggest, transforming the dream, as dreams naturally do, into new turns of adventure. As the music fades at the end, the dreamer can create her or his own musical accompaniment to continue the freshly generated dream thread."
